Stone Fireplace / Stunning Views

Why stay at a crowded resort when, for the same price, you can have true wilderness seclusion
in this privately owned, beautifully furnished Lake Vermilion lake cabin?

Looking out our windows, you see no other cabins unless you use binoculars. We are at the
"more remote" east end of Lake Vermilion, just off of the far eastern tip of Pine Island.
The beauty of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) is only a half mile away
through the woods, one and a half miles away by boat or canoe. A canoe is provided, and a
boat and motor can be provided for an additional cost of $300 per week.

Cabin Amenities

Enjoy your own private dock on a renowned fishing lake, 250 feet of private shoreline on a point, large shaded patio with high quality gas grill, and a beautifully furnished wilderness lake cabin featuring all wood interior, fully equipped kitchen, stunning lake views, stone fireplace, bathroom with shower, main level living area, and separate lower level family room with couch, chairs, and tables for games.

This cabin has been lovingly cared for by the same family for 30 years, and has very seldom been rented out during that time. Understandably, we are interested in renting only to very respectful guests who will treat the property with the same loving care that we do. For this reason we do ask for multiple references and check them carefully. Preference is given to guests who book for two weeks or longer.

WHAT ACTIVITIES ARE AVAILABLE NEARBY?
Would some of the people in your party like an authentic Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness experience for a day? It's a short motorboat ride up to the Trout Lake portage, where motorized transport will take you and your boat and "up-to-25-horsepower" motor into a pristine BWCAW lake with superb fishing. (Note: BWCAW permit required.) Or, if you would like a true "camping" experience, but closer to the comfort of our cabin, a small island with one very secluded campsite for camping or picnics is a short (1/2 mile) paddle across the bay. If you prefer hiking, It's a 30 minute drive to Bearhead State Park and its 17 miles of groomed hiking trails. Like excitement? It's a 45 minute drive to Fortune Bay Casino and its award winning golf course (ranked by Golf Digest as the 2004 best new public golf course in the U. S.). Boat launching, bait, pontoon boat rental, boat gas, bar, and rustic sauna (bring your own towels; reserve in advance) are available at an established resort 1/3 mile away from this property. Restaurants, art galleries, a movie theater, shopping, a full service spa, and wilderness outfitters are just 1/2 hour away in Ely. The scenic north shore of Lake Superior (and the world famous Superior Hiking Trail) is just 75 miles away, a gorgeous drive over breathtaking Highway 1 (watch for moose, deer, and bald eagles as you drive this road). Many of our renters choose to drive this road on the way to our cabin.
